چکیده

Lecerof, H. (1974). Thorax, 29, 673-677. Central haemodynamics during oxygen breathing in angina pectoris. The haemodynamic effects of breathing 100% oxygen have been studied by right heart catheterization at rest and during bicycle exercise in nine male patients with coronary heart disease. Oxygen breathing produced no significant haemodynamic benefit during angina pectoris induced by physical exercise, although at rest a reduction in heart rate and cardiac index was evident. The favourable effects of 100% oxygen breathing described in pacing-induced angina pectoris cannot therefore be transferred to exercise-induced angina probably because the myocardial blood flow during the latter condition is hampered by an increased left ventricular end-diastolic pressure.

Effect of oxygen breathing on pacing-induced angina pectoris and other manifestations of coronary insufficiency.

Eleven patients with arteriographically confirmed coronary artery disease and normal arterial oxygen saturation were studied. The angina threshold was determined first by successive elevation of heart rate at increments of 10 and 5 beats/min by right atrial pacing while the patients were breathing air via a close-fitting mask. The mask was then connected to an oxygen tank without the patient's ...

Severe angina pectoris in asthma attack: a case report

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways related to the obstruction of reversible airflow. Asthma presents as recurrent attacks of cough and dyspnea. Poor control causes recurrent admissions to the ICU, and mortality is related to poor drug compliance and follow-up. Angina pectoris is a syndrome of recurrent chest discomfort related to myocardial ischemia. The presence of these ...

Disordered breathing and hypoxia during sleep in coronary artery disease.

The occurrence of breathing disorders and hypoxia during sleep was studied in 17 male patients with coronary artery disease, demonstrated by coronary angiography, who did not have symptomatic pulmonary disease. Thirteen patients (76 percent) experienced disordered breathing during sleep; of these, 11 had obstructive apnea and the other two had Cheyne-Stokes breathing. There was an average of 20...

Sleep-disordered breathing and myocardial ischemia in patients with coronary artery disease.

STUDY OBJECTIVES To examine the occurrence of nocturnal myocardial ischemia and its relationship to sleep-disordered breathing (apneas and oxygen desaturations) in randomly selected men and women undergoing coronary angiography because of angina pectoris. DESIGN An observational study using an overnight sleep study and Holter recording to examine disordered breathing (oxyhemoglobin desaturati...
